ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT YOUR DRIVING THEORY TEST!
Theory Test Quick Facts
- Comes in two parts: Multiple Choice & Hazard Perception. You sit both parts together on the same day.
- Multiple choice part of the theory test has 50 questions in total. You MUST pass at least 43 out of the 50 multiple choice questions with correct answers.
- The hazard perception test consists of 14 video clips containing 75 hazards. You MUST spot at least 44 of the 75 hazards correctly.
- You can do these tests at any time provided you have a valid UK Provisional licence.
- You must take your practical driving test within 2 years of passing your theory test. If you do not pass your practical test within this time you will have to retake your theory test.
- You MUST give at least 3 working days notice if you want to change the date of your theory test, or you'll have to repay for another test. Bank Holidays and Sundays do not count as working days.

- If you fail your test you must wait 3 working days before retaking it.
- If you need to cancel your test for any reason, you will receive a full refund provided you have given 3 full working days notice. Remember Bank holidays and Sundays don't count as working days.
- You must take both parts of your licence (the photocard and paper counterpart) to the test or you will not be allowed to sit the test and you will lose your fee.
- If you have an old style paper licence only then you need to ensure you bring your signed licence as well as a valid passport if you have not upgraded to a photo licence.
- You get your test results on the day of the test after taking it.
- You will receive a pass certificate when you pass your theory test. You will need this when you take your practical driving test
